Every day we are seeing news about new legislation regarding plastic. This past week, Illinois legislators introduced a comprehensive package of bills aimed at reducing single-use plastics, banning polystyrene bags, introducing a statewide container deposit, charging a 10-cent carryout bag fee, and pushing the state to procure recyclable and compostable materials.

When it comes to taking care of this planet, we are all responsible. At Extech, we take this very seriously, and focus on manufacturing plastic materials that are as environmentally responsible as we can. In 2019 alone, 16.1% of what we produced was compostable PLA plastic. Additionally, 68.9% of what we made was comprised of recycled plastic, which can all be recycled back into the stream. Added together,  96% of our manufactured products are either compostable, recyclable, or made from recycled plastic!

When we say our mission is creating a path to a greener future through the production of environmentally responsible materials, we mean it, and we work hard every day to live up to that challenge.
